Patients admitted to CCU
**Patients with heart attack (myocardial infarction)
•
The most common group of CCU patients
Requires continuous monitoring of heart rhythm and drug or interventional therapy (such as angioplasty)
**Patients with dangerous arrhythmias
– Ventricular fibrillation, sustained ventricular tachycardia, complete heart block
– Requires electric shock or antiarrhythmic drugs
Patients with acute heart failure
– Severe dyspnea, pulmonary edema, severe reduction in cardiac output
– Requires oxygen therapy, vasopressor drugs, or cardiac assist devices
**Patients with cardiogenic shock
– Severe drop in blood pressure due to heart failure
– Requires urgent care and advanced equipment such as IABP or ECMO
Patients after certain cardiac surgeries or interventions
– After emergency angioplasty or open heart surgery
– For close monitoring and prevention of complications
⚙️ Why are these patients admitted to the CCU?
** Need for real-time monitoring of ECG, blood pressure and oxygen levels
** Possibility of sudden cardiac arrest or arrhythmia
** Need for a specialized cardiac team and trained nurses
** Rapid access to resuscitation equipment and advanced treatments
